Abstract Aim. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between quality of life and demographic characteristics of people with angina pectoris in Shohada Hospital in Qaen city, Iran in 2014. Backgrounds. Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in most countries around the world, including Iran, and also, it is the most important cause of disability. Cardiovascular disease is one of the most preventable non-communicable diseases. Quality of life in heart disease is associated with inappropriate changes, as several factors contribute to improving the quality of life of these patients.. Method. This cross-sectional correlational study was conducted on 240 individuals with angina pectoris in the CCU and Post-CCU wards of Shohada Qaen Hospital, Qaen, Iran, from April to December 2014. The sample were recruites by census method and the SF-36 tool was used to assess the quality of life. The questionnaire was completed by interviewing patients. Data were analyzed in SPSS-20, using Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Findings. The mean score of total quality of life was 61.74±22.49, indicating good quality of life. The findings showed that the age was significantly related to the role disorder due to emotional health (P=0.034), energy/ fatigue (P=0.001) and general health (P=0.004) domains of quality of life. The gender was significantly related to the role disorder due to emotional health (P=0.008), energy/ fatigue (P=0.01), social function (P=0.003) and general health (P=0.04). The marital status was significantly related to the physical function (P=0.032), and energy/ fatigue (P=0.04). Finally, a statistically significant relationship was found of education level with energy/ fatigue (P=0.007) and general health (P=0.001). Conclusion. The use of appropriate care approaches, including educational programs is suggested for people with angina pectoris in order to improve their quality of life.
